     Mike Olson

Mike Olson
Exalted Ruler Mike Olson was born in Los Angeles, California in 1942. He went to school both public and parochial, was a member of the YMCA, a Boy Scout, and an Explorer Scout.

Mike went to college, joined the United States Air Force in 1961, and became an Public Information Officer in Korea. Officer Olson says, "Here we had a radio station and produced the  armed forces Korea newspaper called the Osan Defender. I also served the USAF in Texas for almost 3 years where we had a base newspaper, and produced a local TV show about the Air Force".

After an honorable discharge, Olson worked for United Airlines for about 4 years then became a Police Officer.
He then had an opportunity to become a Fire Fighter, and retired as Fire Chief after fighting fires for almost 30 years.

"I consider it a great honor having served in the Air Force, Police Dept & Fire Dept.  I have been a proud member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks for 34+ years".

Mr. Olson is a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd & 4th degree. He is also a past member of the Exchange Club, Board of Director of a YMCA, a Boy Scout merit badge counselor, a past member of the International Assn. of Fire Chiefs of Calif., a member of the Police Officer`s Assn., Arson Investigators Assn. and is an Honorary Police Chief.

"I Married my wonderful wife Sharon in 1966. We have three children Erik, Debbie and Kenneth. I wanted to name the boys Olaf and Axle both old Swedish names but Sharon saved the boys and got to the birth certificates first. I am related to General Robert E. Lee, President George Washington, and First Lady Martha Washington", Mike reports.  

Olson considers himself a progressive and conservative in his thinking, and is always open to new ideas. His hobbies include camping, fishing, and games such as pinochle, chess, and who dun-it`s.
